The Steelers played well on offense in this game and it is the reason for the nice win to end the year.  Ben Roethlisberger was solid completing 18 of 27 passes for 220 yards with 3 TD passes and 0 INTs.  He also carried the ball 4 times for 17 yards (4.3 ypc) yesterday.  Rashard Mendenhall led the way on the ground for the Steelers yesterday with 94 yards rushing on 20 carries (4.7 ypc) and he also caught 1 pass for 26 yards.  Willie Parker was also really effective playing a lot late in this game with 12 carries for 91 yards (7.6 ypc).  Mike Wallace (2 rec, 64 yards, TD) and Heath Miller (5 rec, 56 yards, TD) led the way in the passing game for the Steelers yesterday.  Hines Ward toughed out a injured hamstring pitching in with 8 catches for 61 yards (7.6 avg) yesterday.  Santonio Holmes only caught 1 pass for 5 yards and he also tossed a pickoff in a game he would like to forget.  The Steelers finished up with 403 yards on offense (202 rushing, 201 passing) in this game.

The defense was only so-so in this game for the Steelers.  Lawrence Timmons led the way for the Steelers yesterday with 7 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 1 sack and 1 QB hit.  James Farrior (7 tackles) and Ryan Clark (7 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1 interception) both pitched in with solid efforts yesterday.  CBs Deshea Townsend and Ike Taylor both picked off a pass each which was significant for the Steelers because they were the only 2 INTs they got from the corners all year long.  The Dolphins finished up with 303 total yards on offense (99 rushing, 204 passing) in this game.  The Steelers finished third in the AFC North with a 9-7 record this season.

The Steelers got another big victory despite getting outplayed once again.  The Steelers prove that it is much better to be lucky than good.  Ben Roethlisberger was so-so completing 17 of 33 passes for 259 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 INT.  Rashard Mendenhall had a awful game rushing for 36 yards on 17 carries (2.1 ypc) with 1 TD run but he also lost a fumble.  Santonio Holmes (5 rec, 86 yards, TD) and Mike Wallace (3 rec, 83 yards) led the way in the passing game for the Steelers yesterday.  The Steelers finished up with 286 total yards on offense (48 rushing, 238 passing) in this game.

LaMarr Woodley led the way on defense yesterday for the Steelers with 10 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 2 sacks, 2 QB hits and he defensed 1 pass.  James Farrior also had a solid game with 8 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1 interception.  Ziggy Hood and Ike Taylor each pitched in with a interception apiece in this game for the Steelers.  The Ravens finished up with 323 total yards on offense (175 rushing, 148 passing) in this game.  The Steelers are still alive for the playoffs with a 8-7 record but they need a lot of help to make it.

Pittsburgh Steelers 37, Green Bay Packers 36

The Steelers pulled out a improbable win because of Ben Roethlisberger who hit rookie WR Mike Wallace with a 19 yard TD pass on the last play of the game!  It was a very interesting game as Roethlisberger opened the game on the first offensive play with a 60 yard bomb to rookie WR Mike Wallace for a TD and his only other catch of the day was on the final play of the game.  Ben Roethlisberger completed 29 of 46 passes for 503 yards with 3 TD passes and 0 INTs.  He also carried the ball 1 time for 7 yards.  Rashard Mendenhall pitched in with 38 yards rushing on 11 carries (3.5 ypc) with a TD run and he also caught 6 passes for 73 yards (12.2 avg.).  Hines Ward (7 rec, 126 yards) and Heath Miller (7 rec, 118 yards) led the way for the Steelers through the air.  Santonio Holmes (3 rec, 77 yards) and Mewelde Moore (3 rec, 25 yards, TD) also pitched in for the Steelers in the passing game yesterday.  The Steelers finished up with 537 total yards on offense (65 rushing, 472 passing) in this game.

The defense was awful for the Steelers yesterday.  CB William Gay led the Steelers with 6 tackles but he probably missed just as many and he was get burnt quite often in the passing game.  Casey Hampton pitched in with 5 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1/2 a sack and 1 QB hit.  The Packers finished up with 436 total yards on offense despite only having the ball for 24:38 as the Steelers’ D sucked yesterday.  The Steelers are now 7-7 and they kept their playoffs hopes alive with this amazing victory.

Cleveland Browns 13, Pittsburgh Steelers 6

The Steelers got beat in every facet of the game by the Browns last night.  It all started with a pathetic performance by the offense specifically by the offensive line which got Ben Roethlisberger eight times last night!  Roethlisberger completed 18 of 32 passes for 201 yards last night.  He also carried the ball 3 times for 10 yards (3.3 ypc).  Rashard Mendenhall also had a rough time as he only got 53 yards rushing on 16 carries (3.3 ypc) last night.  Willie Parker pitched in with 3 carries for 12 yards (4.0 ypc) in this game.  Santonio Holmes led the way in the passing game for the Steelers last night with 6 catches for 93 yards (15.5 avg).  Heath Miller pitched in with 5 grabs for 59 yards (11.8 avg).  The Steelers could only muster 216 total yards on offense (75 rushing, 141 passing) against a Browns’ D that came into the game allowing 400.3  yards per game (154.2 rushing, 246.1 passing)!

The defense played great against the pass last night but they let the Browns run all over them last night.  The Browns only finished up with 255 total yards on offense but they rushed for 171 yards on 37 carries (4.6 ypc)!  Safety Tyrone Carter led the way for the Steelers on D last night with 9 tackles including 1 tackle for a loss.  Lawrence Timmons pitched in with 8 tackles last night.  LaMarr Woodley also had a solid game with 6 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 sack, 1 pass defensed and 1 QB hit.  The Steelers are now 6-7 on the season after this HUGE loss!

Pittsburgh Steelers 24, Oakland Raiders 27

The Pittsburgh Steelers (6-6) playoff hopes are floating away as they were shocked by the Oakland Raiders (4-8) on Sunday.  The Steelers have now lost to two of the worst teams in the NFL with their loss to the Raiders and the Chiefs.  They gave up 21 points in the 4th quarter and blew a 4-point lead with less than 2 minutes to go.  The Steelers offense wasn’t terrible, and it looked like they did enough to win when Roethlisberger hit Hines Ward for an 11 yard touchdown pass with 1:56 left in the game.  Roethlisberger finished with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception while passing for 278 yards on 18/24 attempts.

The Steelers defense did not get the job done, and it was pretty embarrassing to let Bruce Gradkowski pass for 308 yards and 3 touchdowns on 20/33 passes.  They also let them rush for 109 yards as a team.  The Steelers defense made the Raiders look like a good football team, which they are not.  The Raiders were averaging less then 10 points per game going into this, so this was a very big letdown by the Steelers.  They really need to make some major adjustments if they want any chance of making the playoffs.
