The over/under for wins is 9 for 2008 for the Pittsburgh Steelers

Despite having a very tough schedule I would have to take the over.  As long as Ben Roethlisberger is the starting QB I have a feeling the Steelers will always win 9 or more games.  Take the over and start figuring out how to spend all of the cash.

The Pittsburgh Steelers sign RB Justin Vincent

The Steelers have signed running back Justin Vincent to the practice squad.  Vincent carried the ball 10 times for 28 yards (2.8 ypc) in the preseason for the Steelers.  He likely would need 2-3 injuries to running backs ahead of him to get a chance in 2008.

The Pittsburgh Steelers place Charlie Batch on I.R.

The Steelers have placed Charlie Batch on the Injured Reserve List due to a broken collar bone ending his season.  This decision was made a little bit easier due to the decent play of Byron Leftwich in the preseason.  Leftwich completed 27 of 48 passes (56.3%) for 252 yards with 0 TD passes and 0 interceptions (70.8 QB Rating) during the preseason.  Leftwich has a stronger arm than Batch so he would stretch the field a little bit more if pressed into duty in 2008.

The Pittsburgh Steelers release Willie Reid and Eddie Drummond

The Steelers have released WR/KR Willie Reid and Eddie Drummond.  Reid caught a team leading 9 passes for the Steelers this preseason for 81 yards (9.0 avg).  He also returned 1 punt for 2 yards and 5 kickoffs for 110 yards (22.0 avg) this preseason.  Eddie Drummond was cut despite being impressive for the Steelers this preseason.  He only caught 2 passes for 10 yards (5.0 avg) but he was effective in returning kicks.  Drummond returned 2 kickoffs for 57 yards (28.5 avg) and 5 punts for 42 yards (8.4 avg).  The Steelers won’t lose any sleep because they let these two guys go.

The Pittsburgh Steelers lose backup linebacker Arnold Harrison

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Injury Reports by admin on Monday 1 September 2008 at 5:54 pm

The Pittsburgh Steelers have placed linebacker Arnold Harrison on the Injured Reserve List ending his season with a torn ACL.  Harrison played in 13 games for the Steelers last season and he made 13 tackles.  Losing Harrison will hurt the Steelers defensive depth and special teams a little bit but he wasn’t a impact player anyways.  Harrison has now played in 20 games (2 starts) in his career with the Steelers and he has 23 tackles and he has defensed 1 pass.
