The running game was effective for the Pittsburgh Steelers again in 2007

The Steelers running game was effective as usual last season.  Willie Parker had another good season for the Steelers as the main man.  He played in 15 games (all starts) last season for the Steelers and he carried the ball 321 times for 1,316 yards (4.1 ypc) with 2 TD runs.  He also caught 23 passes for 164 yards (7.1 avg).  Parker has now played in 54 games (46 starts) in his NFL career and he has carried the ball 945 times for 4,198 yards (4.4 ypc) with 19 TD runs.  He also has caught 75 passes for 620 yards (8.3 avg) with 4 TD grabs.

Najeh Davenport did another outstanding job backing up Willie Parker.  Davenport played in 15 games (1 start) last season for the Steelers and he carried the ball 107 times for 499 yards (4.7 ypc) with 5 TD runs.  He also caught 18 passes for 184 yards (10.2 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  Davenport has now played in 67 games (3 starts) in his NFL career and he has carried the ball 384 times for 1,788 yards (4.7 ypc) with 13 TD runs.  He also has caught 50 passes for 484 yards (9.7 avg) with 3 TD grabs.

Undrafted rookie fullback Carey Davis did a decent job last season.  He played in 16 games (7 starts) for the Steelers last season and he carried the ball 17 times for 68 yards (4.0 ypc).  He also caught 12 passes for 49 yards (4.1 avg).

Gary Russell was also an undrafted rookie last season.  He played in 3 games (0 starts) for the Steelers and he carried the ball 7 times for 21 yards (3.0 ypc).

Fullback Dan Kreider did his usual good job of lead blocking before his injury last season.  He played in 10 games (4 starts) for the Steelers last season and he carried the ball 1 time for 2 yards and he also caught 1 pass for 15 yards.  Kreider has now played in 113 games (66 starts) in his NFL career and he has carried the ball 31 times for 144 yards (4.6 ypc) with 2 TD runs.  He also caught 60 passes for 471 yards (7.8 avg) with 2 TD grabs.

Verron Haynes signed on with the Steelers after Willie Parker was injured.  He played in 1 game (0 starts) for the Steelers last season and he caught 1 pass for 12 yards.  Haynes has now played in 61 games (0 starts) for the Steelers and he carried the ball 174 times for 738 yards (4.2 ypc) with 3 TD runs.  He also caught 58 times for 429 yards (7.4 avg) with 2 TD grabs.
