Ben Roethlisberger is looking good for the Pittsburgh Steelers this season

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page by admin on Thursday 29 November 2007 at 7:27 pm

Roethlisberger has rebounded from a lost 2006 season to regain his status as one of the best QBs in the NFL.  Big Ben has completed 193 of 288 passes (67%) for 2,380 yards with 23 TD passes and 9 interceptions (106.0 QB Rating) so far this season.  Roethlisberger has also been good with his feet as he has carried the ball 21 times for 141 yards (6.7 ypc) with a TD run.  Look for Big Ben to continue playing well as long as the Steelers keep up the good work in the running game as they are averaging 141.7 yards rushing per game this season.

Someone should be fired on the Steelers ground crew as the condition of the field almost cost them this game.  Ben Roethlisberger has completed 18 of 21 passes for 165 yards with a interception.  Willie Parker had a solid game with 24 carries for 81 yards (3.4 ypc).  Hines Ward led all Steelers receivers with 9 catches for 88 yards (9.8 avg).  The Steelers finished up with 84 yards on 29 carries (2.9 ypc) and they completed 18 of 21 passes for 122 yards.

The defense was outstanding for the Steelers in this football game.  Safety Tyrone Carter led the Steelers with 12 tackles.  Linebacker James Farrior also had a great game with 11 tackles, 1/2 a sack and a forced fumble.  The Dolphins finished up with 49 yards rushing on 23 carries (2.1 ypc) and they also completed 14 of 24 passes for 110 yards.

New York Jets 19, Pittsburgh Steelers 16 in OT

I hate to break it to you Steelers fans but elite teams don’t lose to 1-8 teams like the Steelers did today.  Ben Roethlisberger did not have a good game against the Jets as he completed 15 of 25 passes for 195 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 interception.  He also lost a fumble.  Willie Parker also had a terrible game as he carried the ball 21 times for 52 yards (2.5 ypc).  Najeh Davenport played a solid game as he carried the ball 8 times for 39 yards (4.9 ypc) and he also caught 4 passes for 22 yards (5.5 avg).  Santonio Holmes led all receivers on the Steelers with 5 catches for 75 yards (15.0 avg) with a TD grab.  The Steelers finished up with 112 yards rushing on 33 carries (3.4 ypc) and they also completed 15 of 25 passes for 151 yards.

The Steelers played a good defensive game for 3.5 quarters before the Jets took over in this football game.  LBs James Harrison (10 tackles, sack) and James Farrior (9 tackles) each played well for the Steelers in this game.  The Jets finished up with 151 yards rushing on 34 carries (4.4 ypc) and they also completed 14 of 31 passes for 146 yards.

Pittsburgh Steelers 31, Cleveland Browns 28

The Steelers weren’t expecting the Browns to play this well against them but they prevailed anyway when Phil Dawson missed a 52-yard field goal as time was expiring.  Ben Roethlisberger made a lot of clutch plays in this game as he completed 23 of 34 passes for 278 yards with 2 TD passes and 1 interception.  He also carried the ball 5 times for 49 yards (9.8 ypc) including a 30 yard TD run in the 4th quarter.  Willie Parker had his usual solid game against the Browns with 105 yards rushing on 25 carries (4.2 ypc).  Hines Ward (7 rec, 80 yards, TD) and Heath Miller (5 rec, 71 yards, TD) both had big games against the Browns on Sunday.  The Steelers finished up with 159 yards rushing on 35 carries (4.5 ypc) and they also completed 23 of 35 passes for 242 yards.

The Steelers played good team defense as no one really stood out.  The Browns only rushed for 40 yards on 18 carries (2.2 ypc) and they completed 16 of 35 passes for 140 yards.  The Steelers had big troubles on the kick return team as Joshua Cribbs had a 100-yard return for a TD and a 90-yarder to set up another TD.

Pittsburgh Steelers 38, Baltimore Ravens 7

The Steelers got revenge on the Ravens for the two beatings they took at their hands last night.  The Steelers did it by scoring the first 35 points of the game.  Ben Roethlisberger had probably the best game of his career as he completed 13 of 16 passes for 209 yards with 5 TD passes and 0 interceptions.  He was slightly injured and replaced by Charlie Batch with the game well in hand.  Batch only completed 1 of 5 passes for 14 yards with an interception.  Willie Parker didn’t do much against the Ravens as he carried the ball 23 times for 42 yards (1.8 ypc).  Najeh Davenport didn’t do much better as he carried the ball 11 times for 34 yards (3.1 ypc).  Santonio Holmes had a monster game with 4 catches for 110 yards (27.5 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  Nate Washington added 3 grabs for 51 yards (17.0 avg) with 2 TDs.  Heath Miller only caught 2 passes for 17 yards…but one was for a TD.  The Steelers finished up this game with 90 yards rushing on 39 carries (2.3 ypc) and they also completed 14 of 21 passes for 201 yards.

James Harrison led a awesome effort by the Steelers defense with 10 tackles, 3.5 sacks, a fumble recovery and a interception.  The Defense was giving the Steelers great field position all game long which made it easier to rack up the points against the usually rugged Ravens defense.  The Ravens finished up with 64 yards rushing on 14 carries (4.6 ypc) and they also completed 16 of 31 passes for 40 yards.

The Steelers have released cornerback Ricardo Cloclough.  Cloclough only had 1 tackle this season for the Steelers but he was quickly claimed off of waivers by the rival Browns.  Cloclough played in 36 games (0 starts) for the Steelers and he made 60 tackles, has 2.5 sacks, defensed 7 passes, had 1 interception and recovered 5 fumbles.

The Steelers defense was led by safety Anthony Smith who had 10 tackles.  The Bengals finished up with 91 yards rushing on 21 carries (4.3 ypc) and they also completed 23 of 31 passes for 205 yards.

The Steelers fought back from behind in this game but their defense let them down as the Broncos kicked a 49-yard field goal as time expired to win this game.  Ben Roethlisberger had a good game as he completed 24 of 35 passes for 290 yards with 4 TD passes and 2 INTs.  He also carried the ball 3 times for 20 yards.  Willie Parker also had a decent game as he carried the ball 21 times for 93 yards (4.4 ypc) and he also caught 2 passes for 34 yards.  Hines Ward was the leading receiver for the Steelers as he caught 7 passes for 78 yards (11.1 avg).  Santonio Holmes also had a solid game with 6 catches for 54 yards (9.0 avg) with a TD.  Heath Miller continued on with his excellent season with 5 grabs for 50 yards (10.0 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  The Steelers finished the game with 119 yards rushing on 26 carries (4.6 ypc) and they also completed 24 of 35 passes for 260 yards.
